As legal counsel Belgium, you will be the legal lead and therefore responsible for and manage Fastned's legal affairs in Belgium and part of the Fastned Belgium management team. This is a very broad legal function with the main focus on drafting and advising on real estate & property law topics. Other topics that come up deal with competition law, construction law, employment law, compliance and more corporate and finance related matters.

You will be part of a growing team of 10 lawyers, who work in Amsterdam, London, Cologne and Paris. As legal counsel you will report to the Director Legal and Compliance and work well with all your colleagues within Fastned.
Your responsibilities:
Providing full legal support and advice to the local team in Belgium. In this role you are the trusted advisor to the management team, you are good at weighing legal risks versus commercial chances and you like problem solving.
Being responsible for challenging, reviewing and drafting lease and property law contracts under Belgium law.
Providing full legal support and advice on all sorts of other commercial contracts.
Advising business and being the trusted advisor on key developments, strategy and other key decisions. You will be part of negotiations and external network development sessions.
Helping out with tenders - negotiating tender documentation and other public contracts.
Providing legal advice about various regulatory matters such as competition regulations and other more consumer-related, subsidies and corporate topics.
Monitor new legislations and regulations and make sure that Fastned is compliant.
Working on optimisation of all kinds of processes in which legal is involved.
Requirements:
We are looking for a colleague with an entrepreneurial mindset, good communication skills. Who is a team player and an actual nice person with whom it is fun working. Since you are the only legal counsel within the Belgium team, we would like you to be proactively and work autonomously in order to identify problems, drive projects, and execute pragmatic/creative legal and business solutions.
We are also looking for the following:
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience at a law firm and/or in-house company law environment,
LLM law school degree in Belgium law or equivalent (studies or work experience),
Quick learner, curious, open-minded, adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity and risk, and excited by dynamic change.
Either fluent in French and English or fluent in Dutch, French and English. We would love to work with someone who speaks French fluently to help us to unlock Wallonia in the coming years.
We have an office in Brussels and an office in Ghent. You can work from both offices and from home partly.
